A Brief Overview of the Processing Technology of Ball Screw
Ball screw is a precision automated lathe and other mechanical component that requires high precision during machining. Ball screw generally belongs to mass production, in addition to standard parts, there are also customized ball screw parts produced according to the drawings.
The mechanical processing process of ball screws can be roughly divided into: forging, annealing, cutting (turning, threading, etc.), heat treatment, grinding (rough grinding, semi precision grinding, precision grinding), and the final step of factory inspection.
The specific steps for machining ball screws are as follows:
-
◆ Forging, also known as blank cutting, is the process of cutting raw materials according to the required dimensions in the order to ensure that they match the dimensions of the workpiece;
-
◆ Annealing, the material commonly used for ball screws is bearing steel. This step is to spheroidize carbides in the steel, in order to reduce hardness, facilitate subsequent cutting and processing, and prepare for subsequent heat treatment;
-
◆ Cutting processing, select a suitable lathe according to the actual situation to carry out this step. Generally, the straight thread method is chosen for threading, which is simple to operate and produces accurate thread profiles.
-
◆ Heat treatment, also known as quenching, achieves higher hardness on the surface of the ball screw through quenching, improving its wear resistance and service life;
-
◆ Grinding, rough grinding of outer circles and threads, and fine grinding of outer circles and threads;
-
◆ The final process of factory inspection is carried out by professional technical personnel, and the goods are delivered after passing the inspection.
